I actually have never used the Megashark, but this is primarily because during my first ever playthrough I managed to get the Uzi out of sheer luck when journeying across the jungle in hardmode, pre-Destroyer (I used the Uzi + Explosive bullets on Destroyer for first attempt, Daedelus on second attempt). It does more damage than the Megashark but it's fire rate is slightly lower. IF however you meant star-cannon (when you said megastar) then I agree, yes, use the star cannon, that thing brings the pain. There's almost no reason for a person to go after the megashark other than "SHARK LULZ!".
