I think it’s really up to you if you really want to be in L&D then hold out for that but if you aren’t in a position to be picky you can always work at the other job for a year and then look for an L&D job and apply from within a hospital which is usually easier to get hired if you have already proven to be a great worker. I did two years med surg and cross trained for postpartum after six months and then got a full time l&d job after two full years of med surg, I personally don’t regret any of the path I took, it did make me a better nurse and now I am able to work with the most critical of patients with way more confidence.
